Privacy policy
LinkSweepr collects nothing and sends nothing anywhere. Everything runs on your device.
Last updated July 2, 2026
The short version
LinkSweepr does not collect, transmit, sync, sell, or share any of your data. It has no server, makes no network requests, and runs no remote code. The only thing it stores is the list of domains you type, which stays in your browser's local storage on your own device. Uninstalling the extension removes it.
What LinkSweepr collects
Nothing is collected or transmitted. LinkSweepr has no analytics, no telemetry, no accounts, no tracking, and no outbound connections of any kind. It never sends your browsing history, your domain list, or anything else off your device.
Permissions and why they are needed
Browsers require an extension to declare the capabilities it uses. Each capability below is used locally, only for the feature described, and never to gather or send data.
| Permission | Why LinkSweepr uses it |
|---|---|
| history | Reads and deletes browsing history entries locally so visits to the domains you chose can be removed. History is processed on your device only and is never transmitted. |
| storage | Saves your domain list and settings in local extension storage so they persist between sessions. This data stays on your device. |
| webNavigation | Detects same-page navigations inside single-page apps so a matching visit is removed the moment it is recorded, not just on a full page load. |
| alarms | Schedules a periodic local sweep so any history entry that was missed is cleaned up on your device. |
| activeTab | Reads only the current tab's address when you click the toolbar button to block a site, which avoids asking for broad access to every website you visit. |
Where your list is stored
Your domain list lives in your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on the device
where you entered it. If you have browser sync turned on, local extension storage is not synced by LinkSweepr; to move
your list to another machine, use the export and import buttons on the options page.
Sharing
There is nothing to share, because nothing is collected. LinkSweepr does not disclose data to any third party, advertiser, or analytics provider, and has no way to, since it makes no network requests.
Network activity and remote code
LinkSweepr makes no network requests. It contains no remote code, loads nothing from a server at runtime, and ships as plain, unminified JavaScript you can read in the source. What you install is all it ever runs.
Retention and deletion
Your list is kept only until you change or clear it. You can remove any domain on the options page at any time, or clear the list entirely. Uninstalling LinkSweepr deletes its local storage, which removes your list along with it. The extension does not keep a copy anywhere else, because there is nowhere else.
Children
LinkSweepr is a general-purpose tool that collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above. Because the extension collects nothing, any change would be to wording rather than to data practices.
